Match Report:
 Once again we did not manage to beat Gharb Rangers. After obtaining just one point from three outings last season we were hoping for a much better result. After last weeks cup defeat against SKVW, Mr Grech decided to change the starting formation. The likes of Robert Attard, Andrew Zammit and Orlando Atzori made their first appearance in the starting line up. Fullback Joel Portelli missed the game through injury.

The first half saw our lads creating several scoring opportunities. In the 6th minute Umoru’s header ended just over the crossbar. Few minutes later Umoru's trough pass left Atzori with a one to one opportunity with Gharb’s goalkeeper Vella who saved with difficulty. From the rebound Atzori saw his shoot hit the side netting. Our two strikes combined play again just a minute later. Umoru ran to through to meet Atzori's pass, but his lob was easily saved by Vella. Atzori then tried his luck with two high long range shoots. Gharb's reply came in the 28th minute. A shoot by Sulaiman was well blocked by goalie Grima. From a good run down the right flank, Robert produced an inviting low cross which our strikers failed to convert. Just seconds from half time Umoru nearly converted Zammit's corner into goal. However his header ended inches wide over the crossbar.

Just after restart, Gharb scored what resulted to be the decisive goal. Apap ran trough to Farrugia's pass and concluded in goal. Our lads were in disarray. Gharb could have doubled their tally but Kenny showed great composure and denied the Rangers from increasing the lead with fine saves from shots by Abdul and J Farrugia. In the final half hour, Mr Grech changed the defence to a flat three and pushed more man forward. We went all out searching for an equaliser. Martin's long ball from deep inside our half found Umoru who ran to the byline but his shoot/cross was easily gathered by Vella. After picked a loose ball from Cini's corner Umoru saw his shoot blocked by a Rangers defender hands. Referee M. Apap ignored our lads shoots for a penalty and left play on with Vella making a good save from Atzori's shoot. Moments later Vella saved Umoru's header from a good cross by Atzori from the left flank. With our team stretched, Gharb took advantage of the open spaces and could have scored through Abdul and Sulaiman.
