Match
Report:
Munxar Falcons obtained their second victory
in the campaign which also arrived against the same opponents Oratory
Youths. This was a direct clash between two sides who were occupying
the bottom place of the table together with Gharb rangers before
this match, and therefore both Munxar and Oratory were aiming to
win the direct clash against the bottom place on the table. Munxar’s
victory was deserved. They opened a two goal lead and managed to
resist Oratory’s attempts to save the result.
The
Falcons took the initiative of play from the very beginning. They
had territorial command and created some could have opened the score
midway through the first half with an attempt by Joseph Calleja
that just missed the target. Oratory found it very difficult to
get out of their defence and the closest they went to scoring was
through an attempt by Alex Sacco that was well saved by the goalkeeper.
After
the break Munxar were rewarded for their efforts. In the 47th minute
they opened the score through a goal by Josmar Farrugia who concluded
an inviting pass by Robert Said. Munxar kept insisting while Oratory
found it very difficult to produce a reaction. In the 60th minute
Robert Said doubled the score with a low shot following a pass by
Mario Azzopardi. The Falcons were now in the driving seat and controlled
their comfortable lead. However, they almost compromised the three
points in the final stages as Oratory managed to reduce the score
with a goal by Ishaku Umoru in the 84th minute. |
