Match
Report:
Oratory Youths re-opened their chances
to avoid the last place on the table with an important victory over
Zebbug Rovers. With this victory the Youths made up for the defeats
conceded by Zebbug in the previous two rounds. It was a dramatic
victory for Oratory. The match was quite balanced but the Youths
managed to clinch the points at stake with a goal that arrived during
stoppage time.
During
the first minutes of play Oratory seemed more determined as they
needed the victory to join Munxar Falcons and Gharb Rangers in the
tussle against the bottom place on the table. They went close to
score an early goal but an effort by Robert Attard following a move
by Andrew Zammit was cleared off the fatal line. Oratory went again
close to scoring with a header by Stephen Orlando from a corner
action that ended wide. The Rovers recovered as time passed by and
created some danger through efforts by Basil Chibueze and Joseph
Cordina.
Play
continued to be balanced after the break, although the Rovers found
more space to approach Kenny Grima’s goal. Zebbug were dangerous
with efforts by Ryan Buttigieg and Joseph Cordina. Oratory’s
best opportunities came through counter attacks by Andrew Zammit
and Alex Sacco. The youths obtained the victory with a goal scored
in the first minute of stoppage time. Andrew Zammit won a tussle
at the midfield with Philip Cardona, entered the area and placed
in goal with a low shot. Zebbug did not have enough time to save
the result as the Youths controlled play for the remaining minutes
of stoppage time. |
